America

America, I heard you calling from the past,
You are the history that will last and last,
You are the lone coyote howling at the moon,
You are the slithering snakes sunning themselves at noon.
You are the dreams of pioneer searching for gold,
You are the Indians telling the stories that have been told,
You are the children splashing in the river, fun,
You are the images of Indians dancing in the sun,
You are the rolling wagon trains searching the well-worn trails,
You are the black locomotives chugging across the rails,
You are the immigrants searching for the dreams,
You are the Indians crossing the wide raging streams.
You are the poor and hungry searching for their fill,
You are the explorers climbing, reaching every peaks and hills,
You are the history that will last and last,
America, I heard you calling from the past.
