My Mission Statement
To me, the term working out does not simply refer to exercise.. to me, it means first looking at myself and the goals I want to transform myself into a healthy person You owe it to yourself, to your loved ones, and to people who depend on you to create a more healther, happier you! Make your transformation meaningful in so many ways.
The Secret to the Success
So I'm guess you're thinking "Ok, now what? How am I supposed to do this? Where do I start? When making a committment to change from this day forward remember, success doesn't come over night or through a fad diet or pill. It take good, old fashioned hard work and the desire to change.
1. Start with small changes and modifications in your normal, everyday life.
There no need to go extreme, but make small changes like eating fruit instead of a high calories dessert. I added riding my stationary bike just five miles a day or by walking for 15 minutes. Sooner or later these small modification will evolve and increase in intensity and will create a more smooth transition into more structured activities. (Refer to the Newletters and Health Info section of my website for more helpful information!)
2. Creat short term goals that are REALISTIC!
When starting out on your fitness journey, set positive goals ("I will..." rather than "I won't...) and no matter how tempting it may be, avoid setting weight loss goals in terms of pounds to lose, espeically if you are writing weekly or even monthly goals. Instead, set a goal I will ride my stationary bike five miles today or I will do 25 miles this week. Once you achieve these such goals, the weight loss that may accompany the increased frequency and intensity will become an added bonus. By accomplishing your short term goals you are far more likely to continue to have successes leading up to your ultimate health and fitness goals. Hint: Write out your set goals, you will be more likely to achieve them!
3. Maintain a POSITIVE support system.
This perhaps is one of the most critical component to your success. You either stand together or you stand alone, and turst me, it's far easier having people on your side who encourage you and contribute to attaining your health and fitness goals. I surround myself with buddies and email back and forth and blog daily about my journey. Find a workout buddy, a confidant, someone who has been through what you are about to embark on or is in your same shoes. Trust me, you are far less likely to fail if other won't let you!
